Character Bio: 2 paragraph minimum September Eighth, Bryukhovychi, Ukraine. A small city, plagued by snowstorms, and generally shitty weather. A little child was born, to a UNSC Army Reserve Lieutenant and his wife. Ivan and Misha Picker gave birth to a bouncing baby boy that joined a family of two sisters. His name was Sergei Vladikashkinov. He was taken home after a few uneventful weeks in the incubator with the other babies. His mama bundled him in a wolfskin jacket, and took him to their small home on the city’s outskirts. They lived on the military base outside of the city. Their home was a small two story town home with the necessary supplies, heat, and space to live happily. Fist of the Unicorn, a band made popular in the UNSC Armed Forces, was almost always playing in the house as Sergei played with his sisters. For a military family, father Ivan was very relaxed. He could be quoted as saying “I do not want to scare my children into discipline, I want them to learn from their mistakes, but be able to make mistakes to learn from. A perfectly disciplined child is easy to manage, but learns nary a thing.” Sergei spent his first years playing with his two siblings and family pet, a small English Bulldog named Winston. His motor skills developed well, his cognitive function average, as expected. He began his education at the Pre-K education facility on base. His class was taught by an Army Corporal. The military was ingrained in his life, but not in the Kill-Hat, disciplinarian way you would expect.
The young Vladikashkinov’s education breezed by the first few years, he made no trouble in Elementary school. He was a diligent, learned child for his age, and performed well in all aspects of his scholarly pursuits. He entered Middle School with a 3.9 GPA and a work ethic comparable to the most diligent of military men or civilians alike. His education was interrupted stiffly and abruptly when the United Rebel Front invaded Bryukhovychi, taking over the Military installation outside it’s walls. Travis and his family were evacuated within the gated walls of the city as his father stayed behind to fight. His father followed the family soon after as the base and soon the city were claimed. In an effort to keep Sergei’s chances at a better life, he continued his education personally. With textbooks gifted to him by a UNSC Coast Guard LCDR whose name was lost in history, he continued his son’s education, nurturing his growing mind, and training him for the war he was soon to be thrust in. There was a resistance forming, and The young man’s father was the spearhead. Sergei was an ‘infantryman’, if you could call him that. A fifteen year old boy given a rifle and taught how to shoot. His mother kept him behind the lines, continuing to fight to keep him in scholarly pursuits, against the will of the resistance. The day the UNSC came marching in was the day the resistance fell apart, as there was no need. Sergei’s parents arranged for him to be sent to a school in the farther reaches United Republic of North America. He said farewell to his family, and was taken by Pelican from the Base airfield to America, with only the clothes on his back.
Sergei arrived in his new home. Brooklyn, New York. He was sent to live with the good family friend, Navy Chief Petty Officer Erin Edwards and her husband, Marine Colonel Nathan Bock. He was roughly... Fifteen. With a decent grasp of English, he was thrust into high school, his parents wise enough to have taught him concepts of mathematics and science and English. He began Freshman year at Alexander Hamilton High School, in downtown Brooklyn. He had chosen no electives save for a Navy JROTC. This was a class he excelled in. He began Freshman year a Cadet Seaman Recruit, on the Air Rifle, PT, and Drill Teams. Through the year he trained with these teams alongside excelling in classes during PT days, uniform inspections, and military academics. He spent many a weekend travelling on buses with the rest of the team members to competitions, absolutely smoking Marine Corps, Army, and Air Force Cadets in precision air rifle shooting, PT excellence, and drill team precision. This won him many awards, and he was one of the few Freshmen entering Sophomore year with six medals, a four-high ribbon rack, and Cadet PO3.
Sophomore year Sergei went out for the football team alongside Drill, Color Guard, PT and Air Rifle. Playing a guard on the varsity team due to his strapping size and brute strength. The school football team, JROTC Drill and PT team were national champions that year. Sergei lettered in football and came into Junior Year Cadet Master Chief Petty Officer. Junior year was pretty simple, nothing out of the standard. Football, baseball, JROTC Drill Team. The year passed slowly, annoying and boring mathematics, science and English classes weighing him down, However he did pretty well.
The highlight was senior year. Sergei met his girlfriend, Maria Reynolds over the summer and began a courtship at the start of the school year. At this point Sergei owned a car, and held a job at a local restaurant, so he was in good standing to take her on dates. This was the year Sergei was a Cadet Captain, commander of his JROTC division, captain of the football team also. Pep rallies almost always centered around him with his dual leadership position. The year sped by, his main focus on JROTC and football. Sergei however wasn't your run of the mill jock. His sensitive side existed to be seen only by his girlfriend, who he spent his free time with. However, it ended quickly. She cheated on him with another Cadet, the Cadet Executive Officer, actually, and their relationship ended quickly. Having graduated with a 4.0 Grade Point Average, Sergei was offered a scholarship to the Naval Academy at Annapolis. He started his four-year career as a Midshipman in Annapolis, taking classes of Naval Leadership, Naval Sciences, and the basic educational concepts required to effectively be a Naval officer.
His time at Annapolis was a good four years, making friends, learning things from retired Naval officers and active-duty ones alike. The concepts advanced in intensity and work doubled each year. The graduation ceremony came, men and women in white Navy uniforms. Sergei was the valedictorian of his class, he was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade and sent to a Naval Destroyer cruising around the same star system as Reach. His bravery and conduct in many combat engagements with the Covenant, resulting in victories and minimal casualty losses in ship-to-ship warfare landed him the rank of Lieutenant. His bravery and knowledge of Naval combat and expertise caught the eye of the Office of Naval Intelligence, who recruited him for Project Reclamation and placed him on the Prowler Safety in Silence, part of the ongoing operation to recover the stolen SHIVA missiles
