Personality Description:
Matt is sort of a calm person. He is more an extrovert person and can easily socialize with others. At the academy he had some friends to talk with. He can be selfish as he usually wants to keep things for himself and not share it with others. Although this behaviour is started to change when he entered the academy.

In combat, he is very co-operative with his team. He is rather obedient towards his superiors as he follows orders discreet and executes them immediately. Though while in combat, he can be seen as an aggressive person, although he always attempts to hide this kind of behaviour as being aggressive in combat can lead to a disaster.



Physical Description:
Matt has got brown short hair with dark blue eyes. He is rather tall, about 1.76m. He doesn’t have a beard as he usually shaves himself. Matt has an American accent as his parents are from the URNA. He usually wears casual clothing with dark green sport sunglasses when he is off-duty.

In general, he has a mesomorph build type as he usually has to do physical training. He is rather strong when it comes to physical fighting. Matt has got vast knowledge of martial arts in the event he needs to attack his opponent physically instead of using firearms.



Character Bio:
Matt is born in the year 2518 on Mars at the city of New Paris. His parents were both scientists working for the UNSC. In his youth, he didn’t really spend much time with them as they had to work hard. He was usually sent to his grandparents at New Harmony. There he spent most of his earlier years. When he went to high school, he started to become fascinated on UNSC of what they have accomplished for the past years, specifically the military part.

Several of years later (in the year 2536), he went to college and his interest in the UNSC has developed even more that he actually decided to join the UNSC Academy on Earth. When he went to the Academy, he had a choice of what kind of unit he wanted to join. He was initially thinking about to join the UNSC Army, but he then decided to join the Marines as they are mainly on-board Naval Ships. As every other person, he needed to go into the basic training which he initially didn’t like because of the complex physical training he got. He didn’t expected it to be that difficult for him. Later on, he adapted to it and the physical training went overall better.

His practical and rifle training went very well for him. At most of the times he was capable of handling combat situations easily, although this was only training and wasn’t for real. In certain specific situations, he attempts to solve the issue diplomatically. If that didn’t work, he would have to use stronger measurements and if necessary using force if the person resists. If it was for real, he would probably react or act differently, even though he trained to remain calm in situations.

Though this kind of training wouldn’t necessarily apply for him at most of the times as Marines are mainly trained to combat the enemy. When he was able to choose what kind of position he wants as Marine, he choose for the specialization of Rifleman.

About two years later, his training at the academy was over and was immediately signed on the ship UNSC Harbor which included the 105th Regiment. The ship’s assignment was to patrol the Solar System in the event of a hostile incursion, however one day, they were sent to Mars where there was an insurrectionist attack on an UNSC outpost. The marines were required for this mission and Matt had to go with them. Before this mission, he was put in the Alpha Squad, a squad which is specialised in direct assault against the enemy. The majority of them were rifleman. There were only two medics in the squad.

As the marines had to prepare themselves, Matt took his equipment and went immediately to the assigned Pelican for his squad. Most of them were already there and were waiting for the others. When everyone was on-board the Pelican, it launched into space. While the ship was getting into orbit, Matt felt a little sick but tried to keep it hidden. In order to do so, he tried to think about something else like one of the trainings he liked in the past. When the Pelican was almost about to land, they were under fire by AA turrets from the outpost. This meant that the Insurrection had control over the base and probably took the people who were left there as hostage. The Pelicans had to land about five kilometres from the outpost, however one crashed not so far away from their base. The squad who was inside that Pelican contacted immediately the ship and told they were alright. Only one soldier was wounded on his legs but was still able to walk.

Matt was in charge of communications. He tried to contact the outpost if there were any UNSC personnel left, however when someone answered, it was a representative of the Insurrection. They said everyone was killed at the outpost, including the non-military personnel. The sergeant who was with Matt didn’t believe them and asked Matt to contact the captain on-board the ship. The captain decided to risk it and ordered the marines to assault the outpost. One squadron flanks from the left side of the base and another squadron to the right. Four squadrons attack from the front side of the base and two from the back, basically attacking them from all sides. Matt’s squad was ordered to assault from the back side of the base. The squad’s objective was to destroy the AA control centre so the turrets were disable as they were controlled by a computer. If there objective is successful, the Air Force was able to bring reinforcements and able to do airstrikes upon the outpost.

An hour later, the assault was initiated. The marines from the front side started their attack first and simultaneously the ones from the left and right started. The backside however were waiting until everyone at the outpost was distracted towards the assault. A couple of minutes later, everyone at the outpost seemed to be distracted to the assault and there weren’t many at the backside anymore as before. Two snipers from Matt’s squad started to fire on two guardsmen that remained on the tower. One of them missed and the other hit the guard and died instantly. The other guard went immediately into hiding behind the cover on the tower. Matt had a DMR as weapon and when the guard went for two seconds out of hiding, he fired one shot towards the guard and hit him in the chest. The guard died a couple of seconds later from his wounds. Both squads went further and entered the base.

When they entered the base, they saw the remains of the UNSC Army guards of the outpost. They possibly died from a grenade explosion. The marines started to feel a little sick, including Matt. They then moved further away from the corpses and continued their objective. There was a building in front of them which was the control centre of the AA turrets. Matt’s squadron moved in first and in and immediately after, four Insurrectionists started to open fire on the left side of the corridor. The ones who were in front were badly injured and were pulled immediately back. Matt received a message from the captain that the squads from the frontline couldn’t hold out much longer. The Insurrectionists were too powerful. The captain told Matt to finish the objective in 20 minutes.

Matt’s sergeant decided to end this objective quickly. He wanted to get inside again, but this time he wants to throw a flashbang grenade in towards the left side of the corridor. The sergeant gave the order to Matt to throw the grenade. As the marines were behind Matt, they slowly went inside and tried to be as quiet as possible. Matt came to the edge of the wall and then quickly threw the flashbang and simultaneously yells ‘FLASH’. The Insurrectionists were caught by surprise and were blinded by the flashbang. The marines went towards the end of the corridor and pointed their weapons to the rebels. They were immediately unarmed and were put under arrest. Matt and the sergeant went further into the base and came finally to the control room. There were several of restrained hostages here, including the base commander. Both marines immediately unrestrained them quickly by using their combat knives.

The base commander told both marines that the controls were locked out and were impossible to decode. He says that the Insurrectionists had an AI with them. He then decided to contact the captain and ask him if he has a solution. The captain responded and told them they had no solution. However, he mentions that if there was an AI in the squad, it would’ve been possible they were able to hack the system and so disable the turrets. They had no alternative but to destroy the turrets. This would eventually get the attention of the Insurrectionists that were fighting on the frontline. A demolition team was sent and they had to plant several of explosive charges on the turrets. Everyone in the building had to evacuate. They went to the backside of the base so they were able to move further away from the base. The demolition team then triggered the charges and successfully destroying the turrets. The building then immediately collapsed with it. The Insurrectionists that were fighting on the frontline continued to defend the base, however several of rebels went immediately back to check what has happened. A couple of rebels then noticed the marines that were on the backside. They immediately opened fire and the marines were caught by surprise.

Matt immediately contacted the captain and told him that the objective was complete and asked for reinforcements immediately. Several of pelicans were then launched from the ship and were sent into orbit. They landed near the base and two of them at the backside. They opened fire on the rebels that were attacking Matt’s squad. The hostages were then taken into the Pelican and evacuated to the ship. Matt’s squad still remained on ground to do their next objective, recapturing the outpost.

Four hours later, the recapturing the outpost was complete. The marines had many loses and so did the Insurrectionists. The remaining rebels were put under arrest. They would be sent eventually to a prison outpost that orbits the fifth planet of the system. Several days later after the recapturing of the outpost, the UNSC decided to place several of ships temporarily in orbit in case of an another incursion. The UNSC Harbor was one of the ships. The captain assigned Matt to the outpost as guardsman, although this may only be a temporary position as they are waiting for replacement.
