The Main Branches

UNSC Marines
The backbone of the United Nations Space Command Defense Force, the Marines are front line troops assigned to ships & installations for their defense & further their combat effectiveness. Trained in both offensive 'Blitzkrieg' tactics for ground assault & basic boarding actions they have been the main fighting force for the UNSC against Insurrectionist & Alien threats across their space for nearly four hundred years. Armed with a variety of weapons, vehicles & support craft the Marines have the ability to fight in any environment.

UNSC Army
The shield of Earth & her Colonies, the Army are back line defensive troops on assignment to protect specific planets (Usually the world they signed up on) and their assets. Trained in more defensive tactics and use of heavily fortified structures they have been tasked with protecting the colonies from harm wether from human or alien destruction & are usually outmatched by the latter. They however give the UNSC enough time to send reinforcements to assist and maintain the structures needed for extended defensive campaigns. Armed with a more extended armoury than the UNSC Marines due to more stable supply routes, they make use of many of the weapons assigned to the Marines as well as a few more specialized vehicles & armaments. They are specifically trained to fight on the world they protect and are experts in it's defence & all of the assistance it's land can provide.

UNSC Air Force
Supporting the main fighting forces, the smaller but expert Air Force is trained in the use of Small Craft for both use in atmospheric & zero-G flight. Having both the responsibility of transporting Military personnel & equipment in various aircraft such as the DH-77 TC 'Pelican', the UH-144 'Falcon' or even the D96-TCE 'Albatross' and supporting troops & vessels with offensive craft like the GA-TL1 'Longsword', the AV-14 'Hornet' & AV-22 'Sparrowhawk' VTOLs, and the AC-220 'Vulture' Gunship. Working closely with all branches Air Force personnel are respected by their compatriots as they have some of the most difficult jobs in the military.

UNSC Navy
The big guns of the UNSCDF, the men & women of the Navy operate the space ships required to transport, defend & acquire UEG assets & personnel as well as the many stations that litter UNSC space. Given a variety of duties, the personnel of the navy have been given the best of training to ensure their competence. The Navy support ground forces with supplies, air force Personnel & even direct fire support from their weapon systems. They also engage various enemy vessels themselves, knowing full well the peril of encounters with the covenant who outmatch them greatly & the importance of United Nations Space Command Emergency Priority Order 098831A-1 or the 'Cole Protocol' to protect the rest of humanity even at the cost of their lives.

Command

High Command
The highest operational command element of the entire UNSC, it is ultimately incharge of all personnel, equipment and facilities used by the UNSCDF. Sometimes referred to as the 'Admiralty', although it encompassed all branches, HIGHCOM splits it's responsibilities into three branches, with the Top Brass forming the UNSC Security Committee that essentially head up the UNSCDF.
Naval Command
NAVCOM looks over the three comand structures for the UNSC Navy. The first is FLEETCOM, or Fleet Command, responsible for ship deployment, mission structure & space operations along with the transport of troops and naval fighters operated by the UNSC Air Force. NAVLOGCOM, or Logistical Operations Command, which oversees construction, maintence & distribution of supplies and materials including ships, ammunition, replacement parts & food. Finally there is NAVSPECWARCOM, Naval Special Warfare Command, operates all Naval Special Operations including the deployment of certain SPARTAN II & IIIs & ODSTs aswell as more specialised units. All three work together closely to ensure co-operation, with those that oversee this being actual NAVCOM personnel.
Unified Ground Command
UNICOM's responsibilities are to look over all UNSCDF ground activities. This includes the Marine Corps, Army & Air Force personnel and how they interact and function together in activities such as, but not limited to; Disaster Relief, Reconnaissance missions, Search & Rescue operations and standard Infantry Deployment & Support roles. They also look over SPECWARCOM, AKA Special Warfare Command, which deals with the special forces that may be deployed alongside them such as Force Recon and even certain SPARTAN teams.
Central Commands
CENTCOM is split up to micromanage the issues for Military matters in certain areas of space at more of a local level, taking a more Regional stance to governance of those matters. Working closely with the UNSC Army & certain UNSC Air Force stations due to their assignments, CENTCOM is usually the first step in becoming apart of UNSC Command Structures.

UNSC Military Intelligence Division
The Office of Naval Intelligence, or ONI, is the informal name for the Intelligence section of the UNSC. Their duties include providing Intelligence for Naval & supporting forces, the acquisition & development of Military Equipment and the creation & distribution of propganda. While technically being under FLEETCOM ONI answers directly to HIGHCOM due to the sensitive nature of their work and the usually shadowy, Illegal nature of how it is carried out. Being split into multiple sections that specialise in certain areas to maximise efficiency, they are also supported by various wings to help ensure they meet their mission. Section 1 deals with Intelligence Gathering & Analysis & is generally considered the 'Spy Section'. Section 2 deals with propoganda & censorship for the public & UNSC personnel. Section 3 deals with special projects like research or development of military tech. Section 0 is a vastly unknown section even among ONI itself, but those who do know of it's existence know that it is not to be truffled with as the Internal Affairs office of ONI & by extension the UNSC.
