Steam Name : Lt. Dan Taylor
Age: I'll pass, sorry.
Character Name: Friede Volk
Character Age: 29
Character Corps: ODST
Character Rank: Cpl.
Planet of Origin: Earth
Personality Description: Friede at this point is most definitely a veteran of quite a few combat scenarios, some more harrowing than others. It’s left her with minor signs of PTSD, certain events in battle could put her in a ‘battle trance’ of sorts, her adrenaline spiking and her mind going into a ‘fight or flight’ state. While most combatants would also feel such a response naturally, Friede’s is much more acute, sort of a neutral trait leaning towards positive. Generally to those around her she is quite authoritarian. Cares quite a bit for the men she serves with and around, does not wish to see many around her die. To her closer friends she is quite open, willing to walk around, go places, speak with them. A good friend. Generally she is quite content with her life; the scars of battle only showing in well, battle. If one were to encounter her in an FOB or on the Ship she’d be quite open and polite.
Physical Description: As an ODST Friede is quite physically fit, yet also there are many different types of ‘fit’. Friede falls more under an Ectomorph that is generally muscular. She also- as a female, has a lighter frame than her male counterparts, but this adds to her general agility in battle. She carries a M7 Caseless Submachine Gun, generic- I know.
Character Bio: Friede was born in Dresden, the year was 2516. Her father a sailor in the UNSC merchant fleet. Her mother a school teacher at the nearby High School. She grew up adamantly favoring the UNSC, basically being institutionalized. It was at the age of 16 she decided that College was a bust and that the Marines was her calling, it could have been the multitude of sports she has taken, or her devotion to the cause.. She signed up two years later, after graduation. What she chose: the UNSC Marine Corps.
The mechanics of life as a Marine Recruit suited Friede very well. She had to follow her Drill Instructors words to the letter. This is also where her talents as an athlete shined. Her control over her body and general physical health had her passing many grueling tests of endurance, strength, and agility. While training with her Male counterparts added to the difficulty, it wasn’t impossible. She was forced to train harder and work harder to succeed among the higher-echelon members of her training Regiment. It was only by the end of training did she emerge as one of the top students. Truth be told she wasn’t the most intelligent person you’d see, but she was no fool, thought things through, and had a large capacity to learn.
Friede was immediately sent to service, her successes in training led to her being made a Private First Class. She spent time in garrison for about 3 years and saw no real combat. In the year 2539 she requested to be assigned to a combat unit. She was sent to help defend Kholo from the Covenant fleet and forces there. Life expectancy was not high at all. It was in the brutal surface fighting that she found herself growing more attuned to warfare. When the year drew to a close she managed to be evacuated with a small portion of her batallion. The rest of the soldiers left were killed when Kholo in its entirety was glassed by the covenant fleet. Friede was taken from the front and brought into reserve, for the time being.
After that positive mark on her report she was released from the Marines for further assignments, but this time a bit more flashy. She was sent to SPECWARCOM (Special Warfare Command) where she was trained to be an element in a reconnaissance team. It was there she mastered the art of stalking, tracking, and path-finding; things that would aid her greatly in her future service as an ODST. She was sent with a group to Venezia to monitor the planet as it slowly broke from the UNSC. She was part of no major movement, simply maintaining an observation post on the surface. The time she spent there was classified, but you can assume she heard and saw some things. This experience likely gave her the option to join the ODST units. At this point Friede was a Sergeant in the Marines, recently promoted from Corporal after her service.
Friede was no fool, everyone who is anyone in the Marines wished to be one, and now it was her chance. She took the role without question, reporting to training when the time came. It was in the Kyongii Province of Korea, under the watchful eye of Specialist Trainers from the 340th ODST Combat Training Unit that she learned the skills of a Helljumper. While a lot of the course was advanced soldiering and operation tests, a good amount of training was reserved for the use of the ‘Single Occupant Exoatmospheric Insertion Vehicle’, or commonly referred to as the ‘Egg’. Friede would go on to graduate and be instated as a ODST Private and inserted into the 7th Shock Trooper Battalion. While the 7th’s reputation was great Friede had no idea of what was to come; the battle of Earth which would take place 7 years from the current date.
Friede became an ODST Corporal sort-of by default really. The older members began to leave service after their enlistment periods went up, and as slots open members were chosen. After a few months she herself was chosen for the role. By now the year is 2545.
How did you hear of this Roleplay & Community?: Been here since Marauder Alpha, love everyone here basically, seen a lot of people come and go. Also happy to see new people come around.
