Server News
Launch is approaching, and of course the server is still acting up, however the problem has been isolated and is being worked on. As it turned out my CW Keys had been deactivated due to being unused for the last 4 months. Support has been contacted
and I'm hoping for a speedy response on the matter.
After a lot of tinkering the gamemode works, somewhat. Testing begins today/tonight, depending on how quickly I can compile a test pack of the content. This will not be the pack distributed to players, but more of a "demo" as I expect to have missed a few textures here and there along with some other small things.
As for models I've mainly been focusing on creating some "custom" variants of helmets and other things, these will be available through donations once the server is up and running, and once I've actually gotten over my usual unwillingness of taking money for anything.
Community News
The amount of people that have taken interest in the server and community is extraordinary, and a little bit scary. I was expecting some whacko's might show up with the launch date coming ever closer. Something else that was far from unexpected is that we have managed to draw the wrath of another community...again. This time it isn't ZC, Altered, DF, or the likes, but rather Explosive Pineapples. From what I have been told there is some fear that we are "stealing" their players, which in itself feels like a silly concept since you can't own a person, at least not in the western world. Regardless, as the owner and leader of this community I implore all members to avoid any and all acts that could be seen or taken as an act of aggression or an attempt to start conflict. Remember that in the end I'm the one who will have to deal with any shitstorms that might spontaneously occur. Continuing on that note, I deplore the leaders of Explosive Pineapples for coming onto my Teamspeak server with the sole intention of threatening one of the new members of this community, you do not own him, and from what evidence I can gather he has done nothing to spite you other than simply deciding to join this community. If you come on to any services related to GalaxyWorks again with the intent on being threatening, mean, or to deface anyone, I will personally see to it that you are permanently banned from every site and server affiliated with this community. Next time, you are very welcome to instead have a civilized discussion with me (Ishi/Doc) and Shadow if you have any issues.
Content News
On the content, its all done, mostly. The core content is done but I keep on pressing more content into it, because I can. My main worry with the content is that it may not run quite as well on computers with less power due to my use of a lot of high-detailed textures and advanced custom materials on top of the already limit pushing high-poly models. If it does cause problems, we'll deal with that when we get there (so lets hope it doesn't). As for other communities, its safe to say someone is going to want to use it, or try to steal it and claim it as their own. I already know there is nothing I can do about it but I can still plead that you ask for permission to use the content on your server (it may also warrant me giving you all the scripts needed to activate the weapons and vehicles in the pack). Anyhow, unlike the halo pack I have included multiple watermarking and hidden....stuff all about.
